Elder Ryland G. Hill Jr. | Biography
Ryland G. Hill Jr. was called as a leader from his youth. He is the oldest of four brothers. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in the Holy Ghost by fire at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Vallejo, California, in the year of our Lord 1989.
Ryland Hill studied the Word of God under the training and guidance of Pastor Hansen Rogers in Vallejo, at Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness USA in California. He started serving the Body of Christ and was an Adult Sunday School Teacher at Christ Temple Church.
Ryland Hill Jr. served as Secretary of the church at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church in Benicia, California, under Pastor Will Floyd. He was also a tenor in the choir. As a chef stationed at Mare Island, he served as cook for the pastor and wife's anniversary for four years at King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church.
Elder Hill also served at the Hooker Oak Seventh-day Adventist Church under Pastor Albert Liersch as a convalescent leader for four years. He also served as a Sabbath School Teacher. In Chico, he served as a nonprofit president at New Unity and as a Sunday School Teacher at Second Baptist Church in Chapman Town, Chico, California. He also worked as an Account Executive with Transwestern Publishing.
He rededicated his life in 2007 and was ordained as a Praise and Worship Pastor at United Outreach Church in Oakland, California, under the leadership of Bishop Leroy Grogen in 2007. He also attended TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute), a theological training program specifically designed to equip leaders in underserved urban communities and impoverished areas, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis.
The Spirit of our Lord moved mightily within Ryland Hill, and the Lord added to the church over the span of 40 years.
As a mailman in Oakland, California, Ryland evangelized the homeless in Oakland and also served as a street preacher in Chico with Katy Thoma, Executive Director of Jesus Provides Our Daily Bread.
Currently, Elder Ryland is retired from the U.S. Navy and active in public ministry. He is also a published author of the book Perception Buster, an inspirational speaker, and is happily married to Lady Melernea, who is a retired schoolteacher. They have been married for over 10 years and have sons, daughters, and grandchildren.
